ABOUT NATURAL WINE
-
Natural wine is made with minimal intervention in the vineyard and cellar. This means using organic or biodynamic farming practices, hand-harvesting grapes, and avoiding additives or processing aids during winemaking.
-
Natural wine differs from conventional wine in that it avoids chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and additives such as sulfites, which are commonly used in conventional winemaking.
-
Most natural wines are organic or biodynamic, but not all organic wines are considered natural. Natural wines adhere to a philosophy of minimal intervention, both in the vineyard and the cellar.
-
It’s important to note that all wines, including natural wines, contain some naturally occurring sulphites. These are produced during the fermentation process and are typically present at low levels. however, many natural winemakers strive to use little to no added sulphites. Their goal is to maintain the wine’s purity and authenticity, allowing the true character of the grapes and terroir to shine through without chemical interference. Our wines are labeled as “no added sulphites,” meaning no additional sulphites were introduced during winemaking and bottling.
-
Natural wine is often considered to have a more authentic and diverse flavor profile, reflecting the true characteristics of the grape and the terroir. Additionally, it is free from synthetic chemicals and additives, which some people believe contributes to fewer adverse reactions, like headaches.
-
Sediment in natural wine is a sign of its minimal processing and authenticity. Sediment is completely harmless. To reduce the sediment, stand the bottle upright before serving and/or carefully decant the wine.

WINE STORAGE AND HANDLING
-
Contrary to the common misconception that natural wines must be consumed quickly due to the lack of added sulphites, our experience has shown that natural wines can indeed age gracefully. The aging potential, however, relies on meticulous winemaking practices and proper storage conditions, like grape quality, exceptional terroir and minimalistic winemaking techniques. Our CAPSULE wines are of highest quality standard and can thus be stored (and aged) for many years.
-
Store natural wine in a cool, dark place with a stable temperature, ideally between 12-15°C (55-59°F). Keep the bottles lying on their sides to maintain cork moisture and prevent oxidation.
-
Sediment in natural wine is a sign of its minimal processing and authenticity (e.g. natural fermentation, lack of any additives and no filtration). Sediment is completely harmless. To reduce the sediment, stand the bottle upright before serving and/or carefully decant the wine.
-
Despite the myth that natural wine must be drunk young, our high-quality CAPSULE collection wines are ideal for ageing in the bottle. Please check our recommendations for storage. This means you can open the wines for the next big celebration or wait a few more years before enjoying every single drop of these exclusive wines.
